Whatever you make, if you have not obtained 'permission from the original creator to make secondary use of the character', then you need to take copyright into consideration.
Also, it seems that illustrations are sometimes made into pirated goods without your knowledge, so... you might want to take some countermeasures, don't you?
I think your illustrations are wonderful, so please continue to enjoy them while "defending yourself"!
